Light Therapy is a non-invasive and powerful solution to MGD - Meibomian Gland Dysfunction, which causes severe dry eye symptoms. The effects of light therapy include reparation and production of the meibomian glands, and reducing the inflammation of the glands and surrounding tissue.
Light Therapy has also been proven to aid in skin rejuventation - improving collagen production, skin texture, and ultimately reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and scars.
For best results, we offer a comprehensive treatment plan for patients choosing to do Light Therapy.
The treatment plan consists of 8 sessions, spread apart by 1-2 weeks. Sessions include IPL/RF spot treatment around the eyelids in between sessions of LLLT facials.
This light therapy is used to stimulate the cells around the eyelids and unclog the meibomian glands, in turn helping them secrete oil and lubricate our eyes naturally thus reducing dry eye symptoms. This form of therapy is recommended to be done in 4 sessions for optimum results. It is done in a spot treatment form, administering the laser pulses on and around the eyelids.
Radiofrequency can be used most effectively in combination with IPL as it heals the eyelid tissues in which the meibomian glands are located. IPL targets the inflammation of the glands while RF targets the structure of the glands. RF has cosmetic benefits as well, by heating the dermis tissue, it promotes stronger and firmer skin by activating the production of collagen.
LLLT is used to repair and improve cell function, accelerating the repair of tissues and reducing inflammation. This therapy is also effective in improving skin texture.
Different light settings provide different benefits.
Light treatment is offered in combination with IPL and done as a photofacial, each facial lasting about 15 minutes.
